Sunday reading for July 6, 2014:

1. Sharlyn Lauby at HR Bartender recently interviewed renowned leadership expert Marshall Goldsmith about (among other things) some steps executives can take in the space to become better leaders. I loved this one because I found the advice to be in line with some of the stuff I’ve been reading on execution (particularly around cultivating the skill of receiving feedback and its role in building strong teams). This is a great piece, which I highly recommend checking out here

2. Liz Ryan has a geeat post up on Linkedin highlighting some of the big mistakes job seekers make during the interview process. This piece is loaded with great advIce, but what especially stood out to me here was her suggestion that candidates focus on being human and being memorable. As a recruiter that has intereviewed hundreds of candidates,  this nugget resonated because at the end of the day a strong impression is worth its weight in gold. Check the full piece out here.

3. Jacque Vilet just published a piece on Compensation Cafe summarizing common differences in the way various countries address matters of pay equity, who falls into different protected class buckets, and what these things more organizations as they setup shop around the world. Be you an HR generalist or comp wonk, this is an intriguing piece. Check it out here.
